Lake Missoula 2022, Rob paces on his porch and tries to rationalize being discharged from an NGO in Turkey for behavior that he can't remember. Things under the surface drive him to look off the back ledge and consider rolling down a granite cliff, but Maya intervenes and gets him with a Jungian therapist who persuades him to process his thoughts in an app called the Virtual Couch.
As Rob rebuilds his confidence, he hooks up with a family friend who runs a security company. To get in, Rob needs to prove his loyalty, which includes crossing sacred lines and choosing between old friends and future promises. Which gates will his compromises open -- the question transforms him into someone he didn't see.

tentatively titled
Over the bridge in 2023, while fending off aggressive bill collectors, Tristan gets a last minute call to dance on a late night show, so he ditches his restaurant job, crosses into the city, and dresses as a syringe for a vaccine promo bit.
The night improves as he celebrates at a Scotch bar on the Upper West Side and meets a woman who's impressed by his fictional connections with the MET Opera and upcoming ballet roles.
Soon enough, he is surrounded by wire fencing in a Westchester backyard, can't escape BBQ planning, related family affairs have him compromising his career plan, desperation sets in.
He needs to escape and become the dancer he's pretended to be. He choreographs a bold production that may go viral, but maybe not by his designs.

My bookbinding skills continue to develop... though I'd like to highlight the idea of wabi-sabi, which translates to something like finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and natural everyday experiences.
After many mistakes and many YouTube tutorials (DAS Bookbinding), I learned to sew endbands to the sections of the book (12 at 24 pages each + endpapers and kozo paper linings).
I've found hemp thread is strong and though not shiny like silk, it has a rugged elegance, and is made to last. Time will tell.
The leather was a gift from a friend who runs a series of leather shops in Karuizawa and Tokyo, and the endpapers are bonded to several layers of kozo paper and glue.
If you have bookbinding tips, or endpaper files that you'd like to share, then please reach out.
If you would like this book to be mailed to you from Japan, please enter a bid by contacting erik@erikpeter.me
